SFS Statement on Drug Manufacturers Participating in the IRA’s Medicare Drug Price “Negotiations”

October 4, 2023—The nonpartisan patient advocacy group Survivors for Solutions, started by John “CZ” Czwartacki, a patient who has managed his MS for 30 years, provided a statement on the Biden administration’s announcement of manufacturers participating in the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program:  

“It is disappointing to see the Biden administration once again declaring a victory for a program that’s already causing R&D to be diverted and is putting our nation’s sickest patients at greater risk. These mafia-style “negotiations” will result in patients losing access to critical treatment options or the missed discovery of a critical cure. They are now gambling with healthcare access with their fingers crossed behind their backs that their program doesn’t backfire.”
